Transition year students have been busy over the last few weeks, baking Christmas Cakes. However, they didn’t stop there. With the guidance of teachers, Marianne Gardiner and Clora Neilan, each student prepared their own cake of Santa sleeping in bed.
Along the way, students had to choose, the colour of the floorboards, and how to decorate their unique cake. Decisions, Decisions! Stockings, Snowflakes, Holly, Presents….!
Transition Year Students also made a Special Christmas Cake which was raffled with proceeds going to Rosemount Nursing Home, Gort. Finally, Transition Year Students Olga Burke and Aoife McKeown designed a Christmas Cake with the word “HOPE”, in a sea of white icing.
This Gort Community School Christmas Cake and Hand made Christmas Card signed by students will be brought to the ‘Jungle Refugee Camp’ in Calais, France.
It is a small symbol of solidarity for those who work with the UK Anti-Racism charity “Care4Calais” (www.care4calais.org).
