We are very proud of our past pupils from Gort Community School
Gort Community School was opened in 1995 and is now entering its 23rd year.
The Liam Mc Carthy cup has come into the school on 3 occasions with Co Clare 2013, 1997 and 1995.
Now Galway will be bringing the Mc Carthy cup into the school for the 1st time. It is a historical moment for the school and the students and staff are very excited about the prospect of meeting the players and celebrating their success.
Gort Community School has a very strong tradition of Hurling and Camogie.
We had 9 players on the Galway All Ireland senior panel.
Senior players include Colm Callanan, Adrian Tuohey, Aidan Harte, Connor Cooney, Conor Whelan, Greg Lally, Jonathan Glynn, Gavin Lally and Jack Grealish.
We are also well represented on the Minor Panel with 4 of our students togging out in the All Ireland Minor final.
Minor players include Darach Fahy, Enda Fahey, Evan Hunt and Enda Egan.
Denis Corry was appointed principal in 1995 and in his 1st year as Principal he welcomed the Clare All Ireland champions and the Mc Carthy cup into the school.
I Brian Crossan was appointed Principal in 2017 and in my first year I will welcome Galway All Ireland winners and the Liam Mc Carthy cup into the school for the first time.
Congratulations to all the players on behalf of past and present staff at Gort Community School.
