The 5th and 6th year Agricultural Science Students from Gort Community School attended the Ploughing Championships this past week in Tullamore , Co. Offally. The purpose of the trip was to obtain practical experience for their Leaving Certificate Projects (worth 25% of the final LC mark). The students, with their teacher Ms. Gardiner (and student teacher Mr. Landers), braved very wet weather to visit various stands such as the Aberdeen Angus Society, Teagasc and the Suffolk Sheep Society in order to complete their worksheets. Great fun was had by all, finished off by the drama of needing a tractor to pull the school bus out of a soggy field!
