I am delighted to announce that Gort Community School have been officially approved a significant permanent extension to our existing facilities.  This is a project that Senior management and the Board of Management have worked tirelessly on over the past two years.

This comprises of 6 classrooms, a special education room, Science Lab & Prep area, a Practical room, circulation space, locker areas, student and staff toilets and a purpose built ASD unit consisting of 3x 38m2 General classroom (with safe place attached to each) a Multi-Sensory room, Practical Activity room, Daily Living Skills room, Toilets, Showers and Office.

We are in the process of appointing a project design team. It is exciting times for the school and we look forward to having our new extension in place as soon as possible.

The enrolment of the school is set to reach 900 over the next few years. The enrolment is over 800 pupils for the 1st time in its 25-year history. Our enrolment for 2019 will be 860 pupils.

This is a substantial addition to our current resources.  With an Enrolment of over 850 students for August 2019 (and even though we were given four temporary classrooms last August and will take delivery of three more this August) space at Gort Community School has been at capacity for the last number of years.

Gort Community School has catered for thousands of students in South Galway and North Clare for the past 24 years and we will be delighted to celebrate our 25th Anniversary next year knowing that this extension will ensure this valuable work continues long into the future.   State of the art facilities will allow for the revitalising and revamping of education in our area.
