We’re thrilled to share the success of this year’s Annual 5K Fun Run at Gort Community School. A massive thank you is extended to everyone who contributed to this whole-school event, from the students and teachers to parents, guardians, and all our incredible volunteers. Every effort—from stewarding and photography to collection and safety—played an essential role in making the event run smoothly.
Thanks to the unwavering dedication and community support, this year’s run brought in a staggering €9,030 (with donations still trickling in!). This takes our cumulative fundraising total to over a staggering €100,000 since we began this event more than a decade ago, a testament to the generosity and school spirit of our community. These funds are invaluable in supporting local charities, with a special charity presentation scheduled after the midterm break. A big thank you to our class tutors for their effort in gathering contributions and encouraging participation—it truly made a difference! The winning Class Tutor group was 1D, raising €783. Well done to Ms Fogarty’s Tutor Group.
Special congratulations to the students who excelled within their class categories, with the Junior Cycle group showing fantastic energy both on and off the track.
This year, we tried a new approach by separating groups at the start of the race, which was a great success in ensuring a smooth flow for all participants. We’re always open to feedback, especially for ways to enhance the senior portion of the run. Your ideas could make next year’s event even better!
A heartfelt thank you to the Office team for their hours spent counting contributions, managing the logistics, and coordinating with the community. Your commitment, alongside the continued support from school Management and staff, has been invaluable in making this event a very special whole-school extracurricular celebration each year.
Thank you again to everyone for making this year’s 5K Fun Run unforgettable.
