Stand Up Awareness Week: Nov 4 – 8th 2024.
Students and staff at Gort Community School have been busy taking part in the Belong To Stand Up Week 2024. This year’s theme is *Standing up in our Communities*.
GCS, as a school that values ‘Community’, always strives to show solidarity with LGBTQ+ young people to ensure they feel seen, heard, and safe. This year we ran events such as our display of the LGBTQ+ Progress Flag, Science experiments, ‘Rainbow Baking’ for the Staff Room, and a Wear the Rainbow Colour Day.
On Friday, the Student Council organised a rainbow photo with first years, standing up against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic language. Amazing work by Student Council members Aaron Maloney, Dillon Lynskey, Seamus Hennelly and Ríain Piggot who planned and created the Wear a Rainbow Colour Photo with our first years.
Join us in GCS to create Safe and Supportive Spaces and voices in a world that can sometimes feel divisive.
