In Gort Community School, we aim to provide a comprehensive post-primary education open to all the community.
The school is a Christian community which endeavours to be a happy and caring place, striving to develop the academic, aesthetic, spiritual, physical and moral potential of each student.
We believe in a rounded education whereby students are taught life-long skills and we endeavour to ensure that students who join our school will discover a happy, positive and caring environment where they will develop and flourish. We are committed to creating an atmosphere of excellence in learning, challenging our pupils to reach their full potential.
We offer a progressive and diverse academic curriculum as well as an extensive range of extra-curricular activities, promoting the holistic development of our students.

For the first time in school history, we have over 900 pupils in our school. We have a projected enrolment of 1200 pupils. Our school currently has an enrolment of over 960 pupils.

We have just completed Phase I of our building project with an addition of 6 classrooms, toilet block, locker area, 2 Science Labs/prep area and a new Technology room.

Phase II will be going to Planning soon and consist of a 5500m2 extension

The Major extension will consist of 41 new rooms including: 19 General classrooms, 9 meeting rooms, I DP Office, 3 Classroom SEN base, Art Room, Home Econ room, Graphics room, 3 Science lab/2 Prep area, Construction studies /Prep area, Engineering room, Tech Prep room, 3x Project store, New Staff room, GP/Dining area along with alterations to Existing Building and Fitness suite.

Our Senior Management team aim to maintain the extremely high standards of Gort Community School, and to ensure that the students under our care continue to reach their full potential.

I believe it is important to have a balanced education. We strive for high results and have high expectations of our students, but we also value the benefits of being involved in sport and extracurricular activities.
Our Motto “Ní neart go cur le chéile” really captures what is at the heart of Gort Community School, strength in a common purpose. Gort Community School is about being a team, being part of the community, working together, having common goals and striving to achieve the best possible education for each and every student that comes through our doors.
